Human Resources Management Graduate at Louisiana Tech University
Saturday, February 21st, 2009The Human Resource Management major is designed to provide the student with training in managing employees and in the procurement, development, maintenance, and utilization of the work force.
The Human Resource Management curriculum is a four-year program leading to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. The Human Resource Management degree program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).
Careers in Human Resources Management
Human resource managers can be generalists and work in all areas of human resources, including staffing, training and development, equal employment opportunity compliance, compensation administration, labor and employee relations, performance appraisal, and discipline and termination. Alternately, human resource managers can be specialists and emphasize one area of practice, such as being a corporate trainer or company recruiter. Additionally, human resource management graduates can pursue careers in consulting or general supervision. Some graduates may use the major as a general foundation to pursue advanced degrees in business, law, or other fields.
High school and pre-preparation
Upon admission to the university, students can apply to the College of Business degree programs. Generally, students who have an overall, attempted GPA of 2.0 or higher are admitted. Examples of high school courses that serve as a good foundation for college-level business courses include: Algebra I, II and III; Applied Math III; Business Computer Applications; Calculus; Comparable Advanced Math; Computer Science; Discrete Math; Pre-Calculus; Probability and Statistics.
