At the beginning of the 21st century, this is a fascinating time to be studying and working within urban regeneration. The government has placed high importance on renewing Britain’s communities, developing decent places for people to live in and high quality towns and cities with a wide range of activities. It has also been recognised that there are not enough people with the right skills to undertake this demanding and rewarding area of work. London South Bank University’s Planning School has been awarded RTPI advanced accreditation for 8 new intensive MA degrees to start in September 2004. The main impetus for the new MAs came from the decision of The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) requiring, in July 2003, that all postgraduate planning education consist of one calendar year full time Master’s courses (and the part time equivalent). Our MAs received unconditional accreditation in late January 2004. South Bank is the only planning school in London to be awarded advanced accreditation. The RTPI commented that our proposals are realistic, innovative and respond positively and imaginatively

The Masters in International Human Resources is studied on a full-time basis. It is designed for graduates of any discipline who intend to develop a career in global business in the area of Human Resource Management, or in any area of management which places a high priority on the exercise of people management skills. Building upon the expertise available in the University, the course focuses on the management of human resources in international companies and the issues associated with the management of international staff. The Department of Human Resources & Management comprises 38 staff covering a wide range of disciplines. The department prides itself on being staffed by those who not only hold academic and professional qualifications, but also have extensive industry experience. This allows us to take a practical approach to our subject areas, and brings a realistic view of the worlds of human resources and management to our teaching.

Applicants applying for a graduate certificate must have earned an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university, with a minimum undergraduate quality point average (QPA) of 2.7. Students not meeting this requirement may be reconsidered for admission after completing one (1) prescribed course in the certificate program. Other admission standards may apply depending on the certificate program. Please refer to the specific certificate program for details.
