The graduate program in Human Movement is planned to meet the needs of practising Health and Physical Education teachers, outdoor educators and community recreation specialists for advanced academic qualification. The program comprises two specialty areas: Health and Physical Education Teaching and Outdoor Education/Recreation.
The Graduate Certificate of Human Movement is structured into a progressive sequence allowing for a completion of the Graduate Certificate before, if desired, enrolment in a Masters course. All Graduate Certificate units are approved at the postgraduate level and may be used towards the Master of Human Movement.
It is possible to complete the first level of postgraduate qualification, a Graduate Certificate, by completing four units from specialty areas as listed after the schedule.

ASHS' Human Movement (M.S.) program offers college courses in human movement online for the highest quality education in human movement, performance enhancement, and corrective exercise through a flexible distance education. The human movement graduate degree program is offered in a format that enables healthcare providers and those practicing human movement, fitness, and wellness to gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide leadership in advanced human movement services.
After completing the course, students should be able to
reconsider their professional practice in the context of relevant theoritical developments in the field;
identify, analyse and formulate solutions to problems and issues in their professional field;
design programs and experiences to promote professional learning in their professional field;
advocate for their professional areas.
The course is open to teachers/instructors who hold either a minimum 4-year university qualification or equivalent status, or are working in a related professional field and hold a qualification deemed to be of equivalent status.
In special cases the Faculty may accept applicants who do not satisfy these requirements but can demonstrate other equivalence.
Prospective applicants for the Outdoor Education/Recreation area will be interviewed prior to entry into the program.

Health and Physical Education Teaching
Prepares individuals to provide leadership in instructional design and curriculum development in traditional Health and Physical Education settings and also in the Health Enhancement paradigm.
Outdoor Education
Focuses on knowledge and skills necessary for an harmonious interaction between people and the environment. It takes full advantage of the unique Tasmanian ecology and immense opportunities for life-time activity
