Television and film studies is a two-year or four-year program that prepares students for careers in the television or film industries. Program in Television and Film
The Associate and Bachelor of Science degrees in television and film studies are designed to offer students considerable flexibility. Students can explore both television and film and the industries of advertising, media graphics, film, journalism, public relations, publishing, television or video production. Students also take courses in hands-on production, media writing, industry organization and procedures, media history and aesthetics.
The industry values professionals with strong business skills, so the program stresses courses in management, marketing and business administration. The program in television and film studies is available on the Queens and Staten Island campuses both in the day and evening divisions, and is based on the Queens campus.
Study at the New York Film Academy
Study film at the prestigious New York Film Academy (NYFA) and earn credit towards your Bachelor’s degree at St. John’s. Students studying at the NYFA can now continue their degree at St. John’s University through the articulation agreement with the Film School. This agreement ensures that credits earned during NYFA’s one-year filmmaking program will be acknowledged by St. John’s College of Professional Studies. Television and film students now have the opportunity to study at one of America’s leading Catholic institutions as well as one of the “most prominent fixtures of film education in the world.”

Certificate in Mature students Admissions at Saint Johns University

Prospective students seeking admission to a certificate program must meet the regular entrance requirements for the College of Professional Studies. Admission of new students is dependent upon all past educational experiences and other significant activities. Students who are currently matriculated for a degree must be in good academic standing to qualify for admission into a certificate program. Matriculated students may not pursue a certificate program in their major field of study.

Certificate Mature students at Saint Johns University

Certificate programs are offered for mature students interested in advancing their knowledge and enhancing their professional abilities. These programs are designed to accommodate holders of bachelor’s degrees who want to develop competencies in an additional or complementary field of learning; individuals with no prior collegiate experience who wish to explore a particular field of study and who are unable to pursue a degree program at the present time; and individuals who are presently enrolled in a degree program in an unrelated field who wish to broaden their educational experiences but who do not desire to pursue an additional major field of study.
Students must complete certificate program courses with a minimum cumulative index of 2.0.

UG in Legal Studies Curriculum at Saint Johns University

For the bachelor’s degree, 126 credits are required, including 36 credits of legal studies. For the associate degree, a total of 60 credits must be completed with 21 credits in legal studies, and for the certificate or minor, 21 credits in legal studies are needed. It is important to note that in order to take the certificate program, the student must have completed 60 credits of college work. The legal studies program is approved by the American Bar Association.
